Glögg making fool

Today we made Glögg for the first time. In all my years living in Sweden I have never actually made it myself, but since it’s not sold over here, and we ran out of our imported-by-parent-or-swedish-friend bottles of Blossa, the wife finally conviced me we need to make our own.

It turns out that it’s not that hard to make, and we’re pretty close to the final product and it tasts mighty good. Why haven’t we tried this before? Has easy access to store-bought Glögg killed our desire to experiment in the past? Probably.

In any case, I’m pretty happy about keeping the tradition alive….

Update: It’s done, and it’s perfect. Will be doing this again for sure!

Yummy! How did you make it? No booze for me this year, as Marianna is still on the breast, but I’ll try to make it for Tom. And do you have any good (easy!) recipes for pepparkakor?

Well glögg in all its glory… I did Bloodpudding this sunday! another swedish tradition. This recipe is for those who can read swedish. And I really recommend this even if you will feel like you’ve murdered somebody when doing it. Wierd AND tasty!

http://www.recept.nu search for blodpudding.

I will try the glögg as soon as you put out the recipe!

Does anybody know what the definition of glögg really is? Hot wine with spices?

The reason I ask is because of the invasion of flavoured glögg to be found even in my ghetto Ica in Sätra. 🙂

“Ska du lukta på glöggen, pojke?”

Peter M- That is so funny that you wrote you made blodpudding. I was going to give that a go after Thanksgiving. I just wasn’t sure how easy it would be to get my hands on blood. How well did yours turn out?

The glögg is super easy and Pete and I mentioned next time that we’re going to try cognac or maybe white wine.

@Åsa: Jasså, smakar det gott?! Hmm….. då måste man väl kanske dra ner på sockerhalten i glöggen också, då rommen är rätt söt bara den. Måste prövas dock……

@Jonas: Not sure, but I think if you have cinnamon, cloves and cardamom you should be able to call it glögg. Then if you throw in a few extra spices, I’m sure that’s fine too…

@Peter: I’ll post the recipe when I get back home Sun. I’m away for the Thanksgiving weekend now. Check back later.

Ally- It was nothing like the ones you buy in the store. This was actually really good. You order the pig blood at the store.

Do it!

This sunday I’m gonna do body cakes (kroppkakor) haha I’ll let you know how it went.

Good luck with the gore…
